Nine days on a ladder: the mural diary
What painting a fourteen metre wall in August taught me about pacing, sunscreen and neighbours.

Day one to day nine
A wall is not a page. You cannot lean back. For nine days I climbed a ladder at six in the morning, painted until the sun hit the wall, and spent the afternoons answering questions from people who really wanted to know if the cat was real.
The cat was real. He sat under the ladder every day and now has a permanent spot on the wall. The neighbours bring him sardines.
